Inspired by A Long-expected Party I am currently finishing a fun little painting of Bilbo leaving the Shire. I have taken several liberties with the original story; firstly he is travelling alone, secondly I have included a firework display (if you look closely enough you might just make out 2 shadows under the distant party tree) and lastly I have added a red book to his rucksack. I will add the finished painting this evening.
