Hill-trolls are described as having slayed Arador, Chieftain of the Rangers of the North, grandfather to Aragorn. The Trolls portrayed in Tolkien's writing come across as crude, evil and of low intelligence, which totally differs from that of Norse mythology; Trolls are considered to be magical creatures with various skills and special ability's.
