The Fellowship Of The Ring (Rivendell The Last Homely House)
After many farewells the fellowship cross the bridge leading out of Rivendell and wind slowly up the long hidden paths that lead out of the wooded valley of Rivendell. Then with a final glance at the last homely house brightly illuminated below, the Fellowship and the ring start their long journey south.
The painting is inspired by the chapter The Ring Goes South. Already Gimili and Legolas can be seen close to one another forming a most unlikely friendship, Sam tends Bill the faithful pony, while Gandalf, Merry and Pippin look down on Rivendell; Strider as always is watchful and Boromir finds himself strongly drawn towards Frodo the ring bearer.

I really like this one Joe, fantastic scenery work and great story telling.
It's work like this that films will never capture.
Top stuff Joe :)
Thanks very much Chris. The best thing about painting Tolkien for me is filling in the gaps between the story. Catch u soon, all the best, Joe.
