The four hobbits Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin can be seen on the out skirts of the the shire. Pippin the youngest and most foolhardy of the four balances precariously over a waterfall (set for a fall) while Merry offers a helping hand. Frodo and Sam look on with great amusement, unaware of the Black rider in the distance.
The painting is inspired by the early chapters of J.R.R Tolkien's The Fellowship Of The Ring and Peter Jackson's Film adaptation.
